Jon William Tatooles

Jon Tatooles is a Midwest U.S.-based senior business leader and enterpreneur. He is presently CEO of Hankscraft, Inc. and its related companies. Hankscraft is a century-old manufacturer headquartered in Reedsburg, WI with additional operations in Wisconsin and Suzhou, China.

In 1998 Jon and his partners started and owned Sound Devices LLC, a specialty audio electronics manufacturer. Sound Devices audio products are used worldwide for film and television production. Jon developed and managed sales, marketing, finance, technical support, and brand strategy for the company. He was managing director for its first 15 years. Sound Devices was acquired by a private equity group in 2021.

Jon is a mentor with Madison Entrepreneur Resource, Learning, and Innovation Network (MERLIN), an organization of the University of Wisconsin-Madison which serves as a resource to entrepreneurs in the Madison and UW communities. He is also an advisor to the Sound Arts and Industries program at Northwestern University.

Jon is a 1989 graduate of Northwestern, with a Bachelor of Science in Radio-Television-Film from the School of Communications. Prior to starting Sound Devices Jon worked for Shure Inc. of Niles, IL. His first job at Shure was answering customer service calls on their 800 number. He held several positions, including manager of Shure's mixer and signal processing products group.

A self-described gear geek, Jon continues to be actively involved in video production, audio production, still photography, and music. He lives in Madison, Wisconsin with his family.
